Mint Confirms No W Quarters at San Antonio Missions Event

The United States Mint has confirmed to Coin World that there will be no W mint marked coins at the upcoming San Antonio Missions America The Beautiful Quarter event in September.

The new San Antonio Missions Quarter will be introduced at an event on September 5, 2019 at 10:00 am Central in San Antonio, Texas. The coin exchange event is slated to start at that time and will take place at the Laurie Auditorium at Trinity University located at One Trinity Place, San Antonio, Texas 78212. A minimum of one-roll is required to be purchased at the event with a maximum of 10 rolls being available to visitors who attend.

Collectors had hoped that some of the 2 million 2019-W San Antonio Mission Quarters produced at the West Point Mint would be mingled in with those rolls being exchanged at the event. The Mint has confirmed that is not the case and that the 2019-W Quarters will be intermingled with the Denver and Philadelphia Mint rolls as has been done to this point in 2019.

The W Mint Mark Quarters are part of the Great American Coin Hunt, a year long event where the Mint is distributing West Point mint marked Quarters in with the Denver and Philadelphia Mint’s production of the coins. These 2019-W Quarters can only be found in circulation and cannot be bought directly from the Mint.
