2019 Proof American Eagle Goes On Sale Today

The 2019-S Proof American Eagle will be going on sale starting today. As reported last week, the San Francisco minted one ounce silver coin will begin sales at Noon Eastern, which is 9:00 am Pacific. The bullion coin is priced at $55.95 and available at this link on the United States Mint site.

The silver Eagle comes with its traditional blue presentation case along with a certificate of authenticity from the Mint. Identical to the uncirculated variant released earlier this year in May, the proof Eagle carries the S mint mark as it is minted in San Francisco.

2019 American Eagle Silver Proof Obverse

The obverse (heads) features Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left.

The reverse (tails) features a heraldic eagle with shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left.

Each coin bears the “S” mint mark reflecting its striking at the San Francisco Mint and is packaged in a blue velvet, satin-lined presentation case accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

As has been the case with other Eagles, there is no mintage limit on this year’s proof silver coin so the Mint will keep making them throughout the rest of 2019. Equally good news, there is no limit to the number a household can buy. If you are looking for a unique gift for family and friends, this could be a good choice to consider.

While you cannot order this new proof Eagle just yet, you can sign up for the “Remind me” function on the product page. That will allow you to sign up either to get a text message or an email when the Mint begins selling the coin later this morning.
