The United States Mint has released its weekly sales report for the 7-day period ending May 31, 2020. In general, the report shows overall weak sales compared to the previous few weeks with a mix of annual sets and a good smattering of American Innovation Dollar products.
The top selling item for the week was the 2020 Silver Proof Set, regaining the top spot after slipping to number two last week. A total of 3,339 of the sets were sold for the week ending May 31, 2020. That brings the total sales for the set up to 213,558. This was followed closely by the 2020 Proof Set this week. 2,754 of those sets were sold which brings its total up to 265,097 for the year.
Interestingly, several American Innovation Dollar products were in the Top 10 this week. The 2019 American Innovation Dollar Proof Set was the number three best seller while the 2018 American Innovation Proof Coin was forth. Indeed, of the top 10 selling items for the week, five of them were American Innovation Dollar products. This is a significant surge given that last time any of the A.I. products were in the top 10 was back on the April 19, 2020 report. It would seem that collectors are picking up these coins to add to their collections given they are still readily available from the Mint.
Perhaps more interesting is the lack of any of the America the Beautiful Quarter products for Weir Farm being in the top 10. Those products dominated last week’s report but this week, only two of the products made the top 20.
