Mint Releases Images of 2020 American Innovation Dollar Coins

The United States Mint has released the high resolution images of the upcoming 2020 American Innovation Dollar coins. The Mint is slated to release four of the dollar coins this year, representing Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, and South Carolina.

2020 represents the third year for the American Innovation Dollar series and the second full time year. 2018 saw the initial coin in the series released while 2019 saw what will be the standard four released. The series is slated to go through 2032 with a total of 57 coins to be minted. None of the coins will be released for general circulation.

The Connecticut American Innovation Dollar was designed by Richard Masters with Renata Gordon being the sculptor-engraver of the coin. The coin recognizes the Gerber Variable Scale.

2020 American Innovation Dollar Reverse – Connecticut

The Massachusetts American Innovation coin was designed by Emily Damstra with Eric David Custer being the sculptor-engraver of the coin. The coin recognizes the invention of the telephone with an image of a rotary dial telephone on the Reverse of the coin.

The Maryland American Innovation Dollar is in honor of the Hubble Space Telescope. The Reverse depicts Hubble in orbit around Earth in a field of stars. It was designed, sculpted and engraved by United States Mint Chief Designer Joseph Menna

2020 American Innovation Dollar Reverse – Maryland

Finally, the South Carolina Innovation Dollar was designed by Justin Kunz with Phebe Hemphill serving as sculptor-engraver for the coin. The coin honors educator and civil rights activists Septima Poinsette Clark. It shows Ms. Clark with three African American students who are carrying books and an American Flag.

2020 American Innovation Dollar Reverse – South Carolina

The first of the 2020 dollars is set to be released on July 21, 2020. That release will be the Reverse Proof of the Connecticut coin. You can sign up for the Enrollment program or sign up for to be reminded on the product page on the Mint’s site.
