Mint Production Report – August 2020

The United States Mint has released its monthly production report for August 2020. The report reflects that the Mint produced 1.657 billion coins in the month, a slight drop from the 1.697 produced in July 2020. Overall, the Mint has produced just over 9.8 billion coins in 2020.

In August 2020, the Mint produced 814.4 million Lincoln Cents across the Denver and Philadelphia facilities. In Denver, 387.6 million were produced with the remaining 426.8 million pressed in Philadelphia. Overall Cent production was up 1.9% over July.

The Jefferson Nickel production by the Mint was down in August when compared to July. 161.04 million Nickels were made in the month, 91.44 million in Denver and 69.6 million in Philadelphia. That is just over a 7% decrease from the 173.28 million the Mint produced in July 2020. Similarly, the Roosevelt Dime also saw a drop in overall production in August. 252 million of the 10-cent pieces were made in the month with 128 million coming from Denver and 124 million from Philadelphia. That is a drop of 4.72% month-over-month.

Turning to the Washington Quarter, 392.8 million of the Quarter Dollar were produced in August. The Denver Mint produced 142.6 million of them while the Philadelphia Mint produced 250.2 million. That represents just over a 2% increased from the July total production of 385 million Quarters.

Finally, in August, there were no Kennedy Half Dollar, Native American Dollar, or Presidential Dollar coins produced across any of the Mint’s circulating coin facilities.

In total, the United States Mint has produced 9,878,480,000 circulating coins in 2020.
