The United States Mint has released its first sales report for 2021. The January 3, 2021 report was published this morning, reflecting sales at the Mint over the previous seven days. For the week, the Mint sold 46,357 Numismatic products.
The top selling product for the week was also the newest and final product released by the Mint in 2020. The 2020 American Innovation Dollar Reverse Proof for Maryland had a first week sales total of 27,243, easily making it the top selling product for the Mint. That first week total was impressive, considering that the prior American Innovation Dollar Reverse Proof coin for Massachusetts has 34,490 total sales after a handful of weeks of availability. The Massachusetts coin was the fourth best seller for the Mint last week.
The 2020 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set slowly continues to add to its total. According to the Mint, 49,355 of the 50,000 sets have now been sold with another 2,471 sold last week. Collectors, unlike previous years which saw nearly instant sell outs of the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set, have shied away from the 2020 set, likely do the the significant price increase the set saw upon release.
The third top seller for the Mint was the 2020 American Innovation Dollar Proof Set. The set, which contains all of the 2020 AI dollars in one lens, had another 1,346 sets sold last week, putting its total sales at 77,802. Meanwhile, the 2019 Proof and Uncirculated Sets continued their strong sales with the Proof Set topping the six-hundred-thousand sets sold this week. 867 Sets were sold which means that 600,821 sets have been sold over the past two years.
