2022 American Innovation Dollars Design Candidates Released by CCAC

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) has released the candidate images for the 2022 American Innovation Dollars. The images and the designs being considered for the coins are a result from last week’s CCAC meeting held via teleconference last week.

The 2022 American Innovation dollars will represent the next four states to be honored in the program. Those states include Kentucky, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Vermont. A final selection of the designs will occur later this year. each representing the specific state as per the original legislation for the coins. Each year, four coins will be released with the program starting back in 2018 and continuing through to 2032. According to the Mint, these coins will be “celebrating innovations and innovators” from each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia and five United States Territories: Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Island, and the Northern Mariana Islands. The Obverse for all of these coins will remain the same as the 2018 coins, depicting the Statue of Liberty. The Reverse of each coin will change based on the state or territory it is released for and the innovation it is celebrating.

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) was established in 2003 by Congress under Public Law 108-15 to advise the Secretary of the Treasury on the themes and designs of all U.S. coins and medals. The CCAC serves as an informed, experienced and impartial resource to the Secretary of the Treasury and represents the interests of American citizens and collectors.
