The Numismatic Crime Information Center (NCIC) has one again played a key role in the recovery of notes valued at over $75,000. The situation highlights the important role that NCIC plays in Numismatic crimes.

The theft of the notes occurred last month and on April 2, 2021, a New York dealer reported that individuals where in his shop trying to sell some of the notes. The Dealer, who is unnamed, reported the situation to NCIC, who in turn contacted Eastchester, New York detectives. Based on their quick work, and the quick thinking of the dealer, the notes were recovered. Here is the full list of the notes that were involved:

With a value of over $75,000, this is one of the larger recoveries in which the NCIC was been involved.

The Numismatic Crime Information Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose mission is to serve as a national and international resource for collectors, dealers and law enforcement in the education, prevention and investigation of crimes involving coins, paper money, tokens, medals and related numismatic items.
