ANA World’s Fair of Money Opens Today in Chicago

After a year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) will open the doors of the 2021 World’s Fair of Money today in Chicago. The event opens at 10:00 AM Central at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. ANA Members can access the bourse 30 minutes prior to the general public.

Admission for ANA Members is free while the general public will pay $10 to access the event

World’s Fair of Money

Show hours for the event will vary so if you are planning to attend, pay close attention to these times:

  • Tuesday, August 10: 1:00 – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday – Friday, August 11-13: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday, August 14: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Admission is free on Saturday)

The show makes a return to Rosemont, IL after being skipped last year in Pittsburgh. Last year’s show as a laundry list of shows that were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on large crowds at the height of the outbreak. COVID-19 protocols will still be in place this year at the World’s Fair of Money with a reduced number of dealer tables in the bourse and social distancing practices will still be in place. With the new Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus, it is possible that face masks will be required.

Produced by the nonprofit American Numismatic Association, the annual World’s Fair of Money is considered the biggest week of the year for collectors of coins, paper money, tokens and medals. The event traditionally features expansive educational forums led by notable speakers sharing their numismatic expertise; exhibits of rare treasures from private collectors and the ANA’s Money Museum; hundreds of dealers buying and selling numismatic items in all price ranges; and major auctions by Heritage Auctions (HA.com) and Stack’s Bowers Galleries (StacksBowers.com). A first-ever “Dealer Day” will be held immediately prior to the show on Aug. 9.
