Mint Updates Leadership Page Reflecting Acting Director Alison Doone

The United States Mint has quietly updated its Leadership Page, reflecting the appointing of Alison Doone as Acting Director. Mrs. Doone assumed the role effective today after the resignation of Mint Director Ryder. The change was effective today. Mrs. Doone will be the new Acting Director of the Mint. Mr. Ryder leaves after serving as the 34th and 39th Director of the United States Mint to pursue other opportunities.

The change of the Mint Director was announced by the Treasury Department last week. At the time of the announcement, Acting Director Doone indicated her excitement and looked forward to working in the role for the Mint.

“I’m excited to serve the U.S. Mint as Acting Director to help it continue its important work,” said Alison Doone. “I look forward to working alongside the devoted Mint employees across the country and supporting our ongoing efforts to ensure that we are operating efficiently and producing quality products for the American people.”

The Leadership Page on the Mint’s site clearly indicate that she is Acting Director and also indicates the Deputy Director role is currently vacant.

There is no indication if Mrs. Doone’s role will become permanent. There is a confirmation process for the Mint Director’s role and while she may be in the mix, the Treasury has not indicated as such or others who are being considered. Any change in the role likely will happen in the first quarter of 2022. The Mint, and the Treasury department in general, is deep in planning and likely already started some retooling at Mint facilities for 2022 coin production.
