Happy New Year!

To all the readers, regulars, and contributors to USCoinNews, I want to wish each and every one of you a safe, healthy, and happy new year! 2021 is behind us and while it is has certainly been another challenging year (so far, the 2020’s have been pretty meh…), there is a lot to look forward to in 2022 from a numismatic perspective.

While the final numbers are not in yet, it looks like 2021 was another huge production year for the United States in circulating coin production, bullion production, and numismatic product sales. There is no reason to think that 2022 will be different with circulating coins continuing to be a challenge in the U.S. economy and fears of inflation driving people to diversify their investments and collections with bullion. As for numismatic products, the Mint has a significant year ahead with the introduction of the American Women’s Quarter Series, a 2022 Morgan and Peace Dollar planned, and some profound commemoratives honoring the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor and Negro Leagues Baseball.

Looking back at 2021 from a site perspective, it was a busy year. 531 unique articles were posted in 2021 and the site broke the 1 million visitor ceiling for the first time. Daily visits and use of the Apple News feed continue to amaze me. 2021 also saw a number of you support the site through Patron. Thank you so very much!

You probably also noticed that there were not any new articles posted in the last couple of weeks of 2021. That was by design as I was taking a bit of holiday but also doing some under-the-covers work on the site. And let’s be honest, there isn’t just a whole helluva lot to write about at the end of each year! The behind the scenes work including some improvements to the overall speed of the site through additional CPU cores and some code optimization. The net result for you as a visitor is that the site should be faster, especially on mobile devices.

Looking forward to 2022, I, like many of you, have numismatic goals for the new year. This year, I am going to be spending a lot of my time and money in bolstering my Kennedy half dollar collection. I have some great coins already in the series but I also have a lot of gaps. The good news is that a lot of those coins can be acquired at very low cost. As for the site itself, it will be more of the same. Regular posting fires up once again on Monday and it will be the same news, information, tips, and deals that you’ve come to expect.

As always, I appreciate any feedback on the site. You can use the contact form on the About page.

Once again, a very happy new year to all of you. Thank you for your continued support and visits to the site. All the best to you in 2022!
