The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic sales report for the seven-day period ending on Sunday, April 24, 2022. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. This week’s report shows that the Mint sold 20,928 numismatic products last week, a precipitous drop from the over 500,000 the Mint reported selling last week. The significant drop is not entirely unexpected as the Mint released no new products in the week.
For the year, the Mint has now sold 9,697,877 numismatic products to collectors and investors.
The bulk of the nearly 21,000 products sold in the past week by the Mint can be found in the top two selling products. The top seller, the 2022-W American Eagle Silver Proof, registered another 8,225 coins sold in the last week. That puts its total sales at 499,172 since its release just two weeks ago. For perspective, the 2021-W silver Eagle had a total sales of 598,123 across both the Type-1 and Type-2 coins released last year. With three quarters of 2022 remaining, and assuming that the Mint restocks the coin, sales should easily surpass that total.
Meanwhile, the 2022 Proof Set slotted in as the second top seller with 7,483 sets sold. That puts its total sales for the year at 226,731.
