2022 American Buffalo Proof Gold Coin Sales Begin May 12th

The United States Mint will begin sales of the 2022 American Buffalo proof gold coin starting next week. Sales will begin at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific on May 12, 2022. Both mintage and production limits of 16,000 are in place but there is no household limit on the number of coins that can be purchased. The limits are new for this year as the Mint continues to struggle with bullion supplies for gold and silver coins and bullion products.

The 2022 American Buffalo pricing has not been released by the Mint. That will happen on release day.

The West Point minted 24-karat gold coin features designs based on the original 1913 Type I Buffalo nickel designed by James Earle Fraser. It has a $50 face value and is made of 99.999% pure gold. The coin was introduced in 2006 and has become one of the more popular bullion coins from the Mint, in large part to the popular Buffalo nickel design.
