United States Mint Circulating Coinage Production Report – June 2022

The United States Mint has released its Circulating Coin Production Report for June 2022, showing that across the nation’s Mint facilities that 1.141 billion coins were produced for circulation. This is down slightly from the 1.25 billion coins that the Mint produced for circulation in May 2022. For the year, the United States Mint has minted 7,638,340,000 circulating coins.

In reviewing the June 2022 production report update, the Mint has indicated that in the month it produced 458.4 million Lincoln Cents for circulation. The production was mostly even across both the Denver and Philadelphia Mints, the two primary production facilities for circulating coinage for the Mint. 228.8 million Cents were produced in Denver with 229.6 million in Philadelphia. For the year, the Mint has now produced an eye-watering 3.978 billion Lincoln Cents for circulation in the country.

Similarly, production of the Jefferson Nickel was also evenly distributed across the two Mint facilities in June. In total, 157.2 million Five-Cent pieces were produced by the Mint, 78 million Denver and 79.2 million in Philadelphia. With these totals included, the Mint is approaching the eight-hundred-million mark for Nickel production this year. At the end of June, the total production of Jefferson Nickels sat at 798.4 million pieces for the year. Turning to the Roosevelt Dime, the Mint reported that 275.4 million were produced last month. Of that total, 141.4 million were produced in Denver and 134 million in Philadelphia. The additional production in June pushed total Dime production for 2022 to 1.548 billion coins.

247,600,000 Washington Quarters were produced in June 2022 according to the Mint’s report, up from the 246 million the Mint produced in May. Breaking down the figures, it shows that 126.4 million were produced in Denver with the remaining 121.2 million in Philadelphia. For the year, the Mint has now produced 1.302 billion Quarters for circulation. It should be noted that the Mint does not provide a breakdown of which Quarters were produced in this sales total.

Finally, the Kennedy Half Dollar saw small additional production in June. A total of 2.9 million Half Dollars were struck in the month, putting total production at 9.7 million for the year. Like last year, the Mint is producing Kennedy’s for circulation.

There were no Native American or Presidential Dollars produced for circulation according to the Mint’s report.

For the month of June, the Mint produced 1,141,500,000 total coins for circulation, putting total production for the year at 7,638,340,000. This production rate is on par with production in June of last year and the Mint is on pace to produce over 14 billion coins once again in 2022.
