United States Mint Beings Sales of Women’s Suffrage Bronze Medal

The United States Mint has opened sales of its latest bronze medal release honoring Women’s Suffrage. The 1.5-inch Women’s Suffrage bronze medal commemorates the passing of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution. This amendment passed on August 18, 1920, giving women the right to vote. The medal is just $20.00, and there is no household limit on the number that can be purchased. The release of this new bronze medal follows up on the 2020 commemoratives to honor the Suffrage moments.

This bronze version of the silver medal issued as part of the 2020 Women’s Suffrage Centennial Silver Dollar celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment’s ratification. By giving millions of women citizens the right to vote, it profoundly changed our Nation by moving it closer to its promise of inclusion and equality. These inspirational designs not only pay homage to the amendment’s adoption, they also honor the many pioneers, activists, and foot soldiers in the suffrage movement who fought bravely and tenaciously for decades to make it a reality.

The obverse (heads side) design features a child’s reaching hand, amid adult women’s hands and arms holding up a heavy weight—a kind of “foundation” of stone. The Women’s Suffrage Movement was a struggle that continued across generations, with countless hands turned to the task. “WOMEN’S SUFFRAGE CENTENNIAL” is inscribed.

The reverse (tails) design honors the Women’s Suffrage Movement by juxtaposing the text of the 19th Amendment, ratified in 1920, with the flag of the United States. “1920” is inscribed.
