The following is a Press Release from the American Numismatic Association (ANA) announcing that its Board of Governors has passed a $6.5 million budget for Fiscal Year 2023-2024. The ANA’s financial year began on November 1, 2023.

During an October 24 teleconference, the ANA Board of Governors passed a $6.5 million budget for Fiscal Year 2023-24, which began November 1. According to ANA Executive Director Kim Kiick, more than $2.6 million of the 2024 budget directly supports the ANA’s educational offerings, including the Edward C. Rochette Money Museum, Dwight N. Manley Numismatic Library, The Numismatist magazine, Summer Seminar and the ANA eLearning Academy, and other programs.

“It’s safe to say that 2023 was a banner year for the ANA,” says Executive Director Kim Kiick. “We redesigned our website and The Numismatist, and will soon be launching the Reading Room online portal. Continuing with big changes, this budget includes the April 2024 launch of our ANA eLearning Academy on our new Learning Management Software (LMS) platform to provide a central hub for our online numismatic education programs.”

Monies also will be used towards modernizing ANA youth programming and youth areas at conventions to create an education continuum and more active engagement. Finally, funds will support the new Americana exhibit at the Money Museum, with an exclusive members-only launch in March 2024 held in conjunction with the Colorado Springs National Money Show® (NationalMoneyShow.com).

“Our donors and sponsors deserve a round of applause,” adds ANA President Thomas J. Uram. “These collectors and companies donate money and time that allows the Association to grow our educational offerings and reach collectors across the globe.”

According to ANA Chief Financial Officer Brent Howe, revenues in 2023-24 include recognition of $2.6 million in unrealized gains on investments. “The gain on ANA investments will be realized throughout the fiscal year,” he notes. “This revenue allows us to offset our expenses as we expand our programming.”

The ANA’s newly appointed Treasurer, Erik Jansen, adds, “Our Board of Governors and leadership team is focused on assuring the ANA’s financial foundations are strong and preserved. As a Wall Street and financial executive, I’ve also been a collector for over 50 years. We are all working together to make the ANA the best it can be, keeping it in step with the future of money and collecting.”
