The United States Mint has released the first images of the upcoming 2019 American Liberty silver medal. This new medal is slated for release on August 15, 2019. It is struck in high relief and is made of 99.9% pure silver.
The medal shares the same Obverse and Reverse design of the gold American Liberty coin, which the Mint released images of earlier this month. The Obverse features Liberty with 13 rays emanating from her headdress. It was designed by Richard Masters with Joseph Menna as sculptor.
The Reverse features a Bald Eagle as it is about to land. It was designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso and with the high relief striking of this medal, the feathers show amazing details.
These new medals are being struck at the Philadelphia Mint. While a final price is not available at this time, it is likely to be at or near $39.95, the same price as most other silver medals from the Mint.
The Mint has updated their site with the product page for this new silver medal. You can find that page at this link. On it, you can use the “Remind Me” feature to have the Mint email or text you when the medal is available for sale. That will be Noon Eastern on August 15, 2019. As with other medals, it is unlikely that this one will feature a production limit nor a household sales limit.
