The United States Mint is set to start sales of the 2020-W American Eagle silver 1-ounce bullion coin on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. The Uncirculated coin will be available starting at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific next Wednesday. This will be the second silver American Eagle release for 2020, following the Proof release back in January.
The 2020-W American Eagle silver Uncirculated coin is priced at $54 and available directly from the United States Mint. You can go to the product page and sign up to be reminded when it is released or enroll in the Enrollment program to assure you get the coin when it is released (and upcoming years).
2020 represents the last year of the current Reverse design of the silver American Eagle with it set to be changed, along with the gold American Eagle, next year. CCAC is already considering the new designs but the Obverse will remain the same.
The obverse (heads) features Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left.
The reverse (tails) features a heraldic eagle with shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left. The Mint Mark will be found on the Reverse of the coin.
As has been the case with other American Eagle bullion coins, there is no mintage limit on this year’s proof silver coin so the Mint will keep making them throughout the rest of 2020. Equally good news, there is no limit to the number a household can buy. If you are looking for a unique gift for family and friends, this could be a good choice to consider.
