NCIC Reports Two Significant Coin Thefts

The Numismatic Crime Information Center (NCIC) has reported two significant coin thefts and is asking for the public’s help. The first involved a United States Postal Service (USPS) package that was on its way to Danbury, CT. It’s last known location was in a Boston processing center. The complete list of coins involved is listed below. With the exception of a 1788 Vermont Copper, all of the coins have been graded by either PCGS or NGC. That means dealers and collectors should be on the lookout for them.

Both of these thefts are particularly significant given the overall value of the coins and the rarity of many of them.

If anyone has any information on these thefts or finds one of these coins, please contact Doug Davis at NCIC. They can be reached at 817-723-7231 or Doug@numismaticcrimes.org. Collectors, dealers and the general pubic are also asked to keep an eye out for any of the coins listed in these thefts. It is possible there could be attempts to sell some of them.

The Numismatic Crime Information Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose mission is to serve as a national and international resource for collectors, dealers and law enforcement in the education, prevention and investigation of crimes involving coins, paper money, tokens, medals and related numismatic items.
