The United States Mint will begin sales of the 2020-S American Eagle silver Proof bullion coin later today. Sales will begin at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific. While the Mint has no household sales limit on the coin, only 200,000 of them will be produced this year and they likely will sell quickly. This year, the coin is priced at $73.
2020 represents the last year of the current Reverse design of the silver American Eagle with it set to be changed, along with the gold American Eagle, next year. The Obverse of the coin, however, will remain the same. This, coupled with the low production figures, should make this a quick seller for the Mint.
The obverse (heads) features Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left.
The reverse (tails) features a heraldic eagle with shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left. The Mint Mark will be found on the Reverse of the coin. This will be the last year for this Reverse which likely will bump up sales of the coins.
