The United States Mint is set to release the latest 3-coin set in the America the Beautiful Quarter series later today. The set for the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve will go on sale starting at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific. It is priced at $11.50 and available directly from the Mint.
The set contains an Uncirculated example of the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve Quarter from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints as well as a Proof example from the San Francisco Mint. The coins are encapsulated in a placard which features an images of the site on the front and the Certificate of Authenticity on the back. It is the final 3-coin set for the America the Beautiful series to be released this year.
The preserve located in Kansas is the only site within the National Park Service dedicated to the rich natural history of the tallgrass prairie. It encompasses almost 11,000 acres and is located in the heart of the Flint Hills—the largest expanse of tallgrass prairie left in North America. Established in 1996, part of its mission is to interpret the region’s ranching legacy; a portion of the preserve is still grazed by cattle.
The reverse (tails) design depicts a skyward view of a Regal Fritillary butterfly against a backdrop of Big Bluestem and Indian grasses, iconic to Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve.
United States Mint
Given that this 3-coin set contains circulating coinage, the Mint has set no limit on its production nor a household limit that can be purchased. The sets should remain available throughout the remainder of 2020.
If you have signed up for Product Enrollment for the set, you likely have already received an email letting you know that your order is placed.
