The United States Mint has begun updating its Production Schedule to with dates for the release of the highly anticipate 2021 American Eagle Type-2 Reverse coins. As readers know, for the first time, the silver and gold American Eagle’s will have new Reverse designs, commonly referred to as the Type-2 Reverse. The Mint will be offering a wide range of American Eagle Type-2 products, many of which will be duplicates from the releases earlier this year, just with the new Reverse.
For the silver American Eagle, things will kick off on July 1, 2021 with the release of the 2021-W American Eagle Proof. The Mint has indicated the price will be $73.00 but that is subject to change depending on bullion prices closer to its release. Next will be the 2021-S American Eagle Proof. It too is tentatively priced at $73.00 and will go on sale August 16, 2021. This will be followed up by the 2021-W American Eagle Uncirculated coin. It is scheduled to be priced at $67.00 and will be available starting September 9, 2021.
Unique for this year will be a Two-Coin Reverse Proof Set of the silver American Eagle. This set will contain a Reverse Proof Finish of the American Eagle Type-1 Reverse and Type-2 Reverse. That set is scheduled for release on August 24, 2021 but pricing is not available at this time. Also, as with most special sets from the Mint, you can expect this one to be limited in availability.
For the gold American Eagle Type-2 Reverse coins, life is a bit simpler. All of the coins with the new design will be released on July 8, 2021. This includes:
- Four-Coin Proof Set
- One Ounce Proof
- 1/2 Ounce Proof
- 1/25 Ounce Proof
- 1/10 Ounce Proof
In addition, on July 28, 2021, the Mint will release a special 1/10th ounce two-coin proof set which will contain one of the Type-1 Reverse Eagles and one Type-2.
Collectors knew with the changes of the Reverse design that 2021 would be the year for the American Eagle. Now that the United States Mint has started putting dates on releases, it is all-the-more exciting.
