Nina Otero-Warren is featured on the fourth coin released in this program. She was a trailblazing advocate who exhibited courage and an exceptional ability to advocate for women, children, and Native American communities. The term “advocate” aptly describes Otero-Warren’s character. Her greatest strengths were her ability to convince predominantly male power brokers to support changes in favor of New Mexican women; advocate for passage of the 19th Amendment; and advocate for children by challenging the Native American boarding school standards.

The release of the Otero-Warren Quarter is the fourth in the five scheduled releases for 2022. The final coin of this year, honoring Anna May Wong, will be released in October. The series, honoring American women and their impact on the country, is a new program that is aimed to run from 2022 to 2025. Each year, five women will be honored in the Reverse designs of the Washington Quarter.
