The cost of shopping at the United States Mint will be more in 2023. The Mint will be increasing the price of a wide range of products, from American Eagles to annual sets, with the new pricing already in place. This comes after news of yesterday’s increased cost of Presidential Silver Medals and Military Silver Medals.
The increase in prices ranges from as high as $25 for the 2023 Silver Proof Set to as low as $2 for the 2023 American Women Quarters Proof Set. Here are a few examples of the increases you can expect this year.
- 2023-W American Eagle Silver Proof – $80 (2022 Price – $73)
- 2023-W American Eagle Silver Uncirculated – $76 (2022 Price – $67)
- 2023 Silver Proof Set – $130 (2022 Price – $105)
- 2023 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set – $220 (2022 Price – $201)
- 2023 Mint Set – $29 (2022 Price – 25.25)
Our friends at CoinNews have put together an excellent chart of the expected new pricing on all 2023 products.
The price increases come at a tricky time for the Mint and for collectors, with a handful of collectors, I’ve spoken to already questioning buying products directly from the Mint rather than the secondary market. In some cases, as with the silver medal price increases yesterday, it is a direct passing down of the increased cost of silver in silver-based products. However, for non-silver-based products, it isn’t easy to fully appreciate the need to increase prices by the Mint.
No matter the reason, the new prices are already in effect. Product pages on the Mint’s Production Schedule have already been updated to reflect the new pricing for upcoming 2023 products.
Will these increases in cost discourage you from buying Mint products? Leave a comment below and let me know.
