The United States Mint will open sales of the 2023 American Liberty Silver Medal next week. Sales will open at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific on August 10th. This year, the American Liberty Silver Medal is priced at $82.00. There is a production limit of 75,000 of the medals, with a household limit of 5 medals total.
The Obverse design features a bristlecone pine, considered one of Earth’s oldest living organisms, and able to live up to 5,000 years. The tree grows where other plants cannot and are often the first to grow in the land after dramatic changes. It was created by U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program Designer Elana Hagler and sculpted by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna.
The Reverse of the coin and medal features a bald eagle standing on a rocky outcrop
As readers likely know, the silver American Liberty medal shares the same Obverse and Reverse design as its more expensive sister product, the high-relief gold American Liberty coin. The only difference is that the gold coin is minted in West Point, while the silver medal is minted in Philadelphia. Also, the gold coin has a reeded edge, while the silver medal has a smooth edge.
