The United States Mint will open sales of the 2024-W American Eagle gold and silver uncirculated coins later this week. Sales of the West Point uncirculated one-ounce coins will open at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM Pacific. As usual, sales are expected to be strong for both coins, particularly the silver Eagle.
The 2024-W American Eagle gold uncirculated is priced at $3170. The production limit is 13,000 coins, and the household purchase limit is 3 coins. The silver American Eagle is priced at $76, and there is no production limit in place for it. However, there is a 10-coin limit on the household purchase.
The silver American Eagle features the classic Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman, featured on the coin’s obverse (heads), which has long been a collector favorite. It depicts Liberty in full stride, enveloped in flag folds, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. The United States Mint returned to its original historical assets to reflect Weinman’s original version and detail, including adding his traditional artist mark. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “2024,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
The gold American Eagle features the obverse (heads) design, which features a “refreshed” version of Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ full-length figure of Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) designer Jennie Norris designed the reverse, which features the Type-2 Reverse, introduced in 2021.
The Mint does offer a Subscription Program for the silver American Eagle products. You can get more details on those plans on the Mint’s site. If you are already a subscriber scheduled to receive the uncirculated West Point silver coin, you likely have seen the charge on your debit or credit card this weekend.
