United States Mint Announces Gold 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair with Privy Mark Auction

A special offering of 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coins will be presented in a stand-alone auction on Thursday, December 12, 2024. These coins were struck to commemorate the 230th anniversary of America’s first silver dollar, the 1794 flowing hair dollar.

230 of the 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coins were produced with a “230” privy mark on the obverse. These privy-marked coins include a special numbered certificate of authenticity, signed by the U.S. Mint Director, the Honorable Ventris C. Gibson.

These coins will be available for purchase through a special virtual auction scheduled to begin on December 12, 2024, at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT through Stack’s Bowers Galleries. Mark your calendars and take part in this historic offering.

You can find the lots for each coin on the Stack’s Bowers site. At the time of this posting, the highest-priced coin is currently the first coin struck with the privy mark. It is listed at $75,000. Most of the other lots range from $5000-8000 each.
