William McKinley Presidential Silver Medal Available May 12th

The William McKinley Presidential Silver medal will be available from the United States Mint on May 12th. The medal, the second of the series released this year, honors the 25th President of the United States. He served from March 4, 1897, until his assassination on September 14, 1901. He oversaw the United States’ victory in the Spanish-American War during his administration.

The 1.598″ medal is made of 99.9% silver and priced at $90.00. As with previous Presidential Silver Medals, the Mint has not set a production limit or a household purchase limit for the medal. 

A member of the Republican Party, he led a realignment that made Republicans largely dominant in the industrial states and nationwide for decades. McKinley successfully led the U.S. in the Spanish–American War and oversaw a period of American expansionism, with the annexations of Hawaii, the PhilippinesPuerto RicoGuam, and American Samoa.
