After the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) meeting yesterday in Washington, D.C., we now get our first look at the proposed Obverses and Reverses of the commemorative coins. The $5 gold coins, silver dollars and clad half dollars will be made in recognition of the 60th anniversary of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
In all, there are 21 Obverse designs being considered and 18 Reverse designs that were approved by CCAC. All three of the coin types will share the same Obverse and Reverse with minor verbiage changes for each particular denomination.
Below are all of the proposed Obverses for the commemorative coins.
Here are the proposed Reverses
The next step in the process is for the proposed designs to go to the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) which will review them today, July 18th. Once that is done, recommendation from both committees will go to the Secretary of the Treasury for final design selection.
