Alright collector community, time to step and help if you can.
Whitman Publishing is set to release the latest edition of the Cherrypickers’ Guide to Rare Die Varieties of United States Coin. It is currently slated for release in August 2020. But the editors of the book are asking for collectors and dealers to help them with photographs of certain die varieties.
Specifically, Whitman is asking for die varieties of United States Dimes from 1837 to date. They are asking if you may be able to help that you email cherrypickers@whitman.com.
For those that are new to collecting, the term “Cherrypicking” often refers to the examination of a coin that, at first, appears to be normal. However, upon further inspection, characteristics can be discovered such as double-dies, over-dates, repunched mint marks, etc. The Cherrypicker’s Guide provides detailed, close-uup photos of those errors along with detailed descriptions of what to look for in those coins. The book not only contains these photos and descriptions, includes rarity ratings, market analysis and values.
Co–authors Bill Fivaz and Larry Briggs are asking for help in finding the Dimes they need to complete the book.
“Within the 10-cent denomination, we’re down to a small number of varieties we still need good images for,” Fivaz said. “Photo contributors will be listed in the book’s acknowledgments, with our thanks.”
If you think you can help with this update to the guide, use the email address above to reach out to the authors and editors. They can then provide you a list of specific needs for the guide. As you can imagine, time is of the essence given the book is due to be released in six months.
Feel free to use any photos or stills of footage from my domain. All that I ask is that my website be included. Thank you!
when will the 2020 be released and how can I obtain a copy?
I do not know the release date.
Any updates? Many are anxiously awaiting!
