The 2017 Native American Dollar honored the Sequoyah from Cherokee Nation. The Reverse of the coin features a profiled likeness of Sequoyah writing “Sequoyah from Cherokee Nation” in syllabary along the border of the design.
As many readers will know, the Native American Dollar has been available since 2000 with the coin having a common Reverse through to 2008. Starting in 2009, an annual Reverse is issued, honoring events, people or contributions of Native Americans in the development and history of the United States.
