For those readers in Alaska, the 2020 Native American Dollar should be readily available from your local financial institution. The 2020 coin features Elizabeth Peratrovich, a member of the Tlingit nation and a speech given to the Alaskan Senate is considered by many to be the deciding factor in the pass of the 1945 Anti-Discrimination Law in the then Alaskan territory. 2020 marked the 75th anniversary of that testimony and was the reason she is on the 2020 Native American Dollar.
On January 22, 2020 the Alaska State Legislature passed a resolution, requesting that the United States Treasury make this year’s Native American Dollar available at face value to financial institutions in Alaska. to that end, the United States Mint has created a special program to sell these coins directly to Alaska financial institutions. The coins are available in rolls (25 coins), bags (100) and boxes (250) and the daily minimum order is four boxes of 250 coins ($1000).
Financial institutions that wish to purchase the coins can do so by going to the Mint’s site. They can contact the Mint’s Customer Care Center at (844) 467-1328. This special program does not replace or circumvent financial institutions’ normal Federal Reserve order process. Financial institutions will be responsible for shipping costs.
