The United States Mint is set for a historical moment later this week. On Friday, August 28, 2020, the Mint will open up sales of the Basketball Hall of Fame Colorized commemorative coins. These will be the first colorized coins ever offered by the United States Mint. The Mint announced pricing for the two commemoratives last month as well as expected production figures.
The Basketball Hall of Fame colorized Half Dollar will be priced at $55.00. A total of 75,000 of these will be minted with a household limit of two coins.
This design depicts an orange basketball with black channels about to pass through a white net and an orange rim. The basketball and the rim are presented in two distinct shades of the familiar orange hue associated with the sport and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The historic United States Mint Basketball Hall of Fame Commemorative Colorized Coins are the first to have color applied to their design elements.

The second coin to be offered will be the 2020 Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Dollar. This too will have color added to the rim and net much like that of the Half Dollar. It will be priced at $95.00 with a household limit of two coins. Like the Half Dollar, only 75,000 of these will be minted by the United States Mint.
Being the first colorized coins offered by the Mint, it is expected these commemoratives will sell well and will sell fast. It is recommended that readers who want to pick up these exciting new coins use the “Remind Me” feature on the product pages to have an email or text message sent to you when sales being.
