The United States Mint will begin sales of the 2020-S American Eagle silver Proof bullion coin next week. Sales will begin on October 13, 2020 starting at Noon Eastern, 9:00 AM pacific. While the Mint has no household sales limit on the coin, only 200,000 of them will be produced this year and they likely will sell quickly.
2020 represents the last year of the current Reverse design of the silver American Eagle with it set to be changed, along with the gold American Eagle, next year. The Obverse of the coin, however, will remain the same. This, coupled with the low production figures, should make this a quick seller for the Mint.
The obverse (heads) features Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left.
The reverse (tails) features a heraldic eagle with shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left. The Mint Mark will be found on the Reverse of the coin. This will be the last year for this Reverse which likely will bump up sales of the coins.
At the time of this post, the Mint has not released the official pricing for the 2020-S American Eagle silver Proof but you can expect it to be in the $60-65 range. Official pricing likely won’t come until the day of release or shortly before sales begin.
