In 2009, the United States Mint created a unique set of Lincoln Cents for the bicentennial of President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. The coins featured four different Reverse looks, each celebrating a different part of Lincoln’s life. These four Reverses are referred to as:
- Birth and Early Childhood
- Formative Years
- Professional Life
- Presidency
As readers likely know, this special set of Reverses were only available in 2009. In 2010, the Shield Reverse was introduced.

I’ve often thought that this set should have a separate case, such as were designed for the 7 cents in the 1982 changeover from copper to zinc coinage. Apparently nobody has created one though I did make my own out of cardboard and plastic sheets. A well labeled hard square for all 8 would look sharp.
