Crime Blotter: Two Missing Packages Shipped from Beaumont, Texas

The Numismatic Crime Information Center, NCIC, is asking for the public’s assistance in locating two packages, both of which were shipped from Beaumont, Texas. In both cases, the packages have not arrived at their destinations and both contained either PCGS or NGC certified gold coins.

The first package was shipped from Beaumont to Wyoming via USPS. It contained a single coin:

  • 1910 $5 Indian Gold MS63  (PCGS-50032744)

The second package was destined for Galveston, Texas, just 119 miles away. It contained four American Eagle gold coins, all graded by NGC.

  • 1988 $10 Gold American Eagle MS69 (NGC-005860457004)
  • 1989 $10 Gold American Eagle MS69 (NGC-004520930055)
  • 1990 $10 Gold American Eagle MS69 (NGC-004825818017)
  • 1996 $10 Gold American Eagle MS69 (NGC-006078798041)

Collectors and dealers are asked to be on the look out for these coins as, if they were stolen, the thief could try to get rid of them quickly at a price “too good to be true”. Dealers, coin shop owners, and pawn shop owners in particular are encouraged to be on the look out for one of these rare coins coming into their shop. Given that all of the coins in question have been graded by a grading service, that should help in identifying and recovering of them with a bit of help and attention from the community.

If you have any information on these coins or see any of them in your shop or online, you can contact Doug Davis at 817-723-7231 or with details. You can also contact your local police department who can contact NCIC.
