The United States Mint has updated and published its weekly sales report for the seven day period that ended on Sunday, February 28, 2021. The report shows that overall, the Mint had a slow sales week with just 16,288 products sold for the week. However, demand for the 2021 products from the Mint remained strong with eight of the top ten selling products are from this year.
The top seller for the week was the 2021 Christa McAuliffe Proof Silver Dollar. 2,956 of these commemorative coins were sold last week, pushing its total sales to 22,745. The coin is still in pre-order state with shipping of the coins expected to start on March 17, 2021. Indeed, the McAuliffe Uncirculated Silver Dollar also made it into the top ten sales list as the fourth best seller with 975 coins sold last week.
All four of the silver or clad products for the 2021 National Law Enforcement Memorial commemorative were in the top ten sales list this week. The Proof Silver Dollar was the second best seller, just behind the McAuliffe Proof Silver Dollar, with 2,266 coins sold. Meanwhile the Proof clad Half Dollar was the third best seller with 1,684 coins sold. The Uncirculated clad Half Dollar was the fifth best seller while the Uncirculated Silver Dollar was the sixth best seller.
The 2021 American Eagle Platinum – 1st Amendment – Freedom of Religion bullion coin was the seventh best seller for this past week. 697 of the coins were sold, pushing its total sales to 6,498. That means that roughly half of the 15,000 coins being minted remain available.
