The United States Mint has released its weekly sales report for Numismatic products for the week ending Sunday, March 7, 2021. Overall the Mint sold 204,595 products in the past week, dominated by the 2021 Proof Set that was released during the reporting period. Take that set out of the equation and it was a lackluster sales week overall.
The 2021 Proof Set sold 190,767 sets in its first few days of availability. it was easily the top seller with the 2nd top seller, the 2021 Christa McAuliffe Proof Silver Dollar, selling just 1,359 coins. For the McAuliffe Proof Silver Dollar, the total sales for the coin now sit at 24,104 with pre-orders still taking place. The coin is expected to start shipping next week on March 17, 2021.
The third top seller for the United States Mint last week was the 202 American Innovation Dollar Proof Set. 882 sets were sold last week, putting its total sales over 85,000 since its release. This was followed closely by the 2020 American Innovation Dollar Reverse Proof for South Caroline. 797 of these coins were sold last week, putting the total sales for the coin at 30,550. Rounding out the top five in sales was the 2021 National Law Enforcement Memorial Proof Silver Dollar. 660 of the coins, which are in pre-order, were sold last week. That puts its total sales at just 14,675. Overall these commemoratives have not sold well for the Mint but that may improve once the coins go off pre-order next week.
