The United States Mint has released its weekly sales report for the week ending Sunday, April 11, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. This week, unsurprisingly, the newest product released by the Mint dominated sales in what was overall a strong week of sales for the Mint. For the week that ended on April 11th, the Mint sold 41,568 products.
The 2021 America the Beautiful Uncirculated 5 Ounce Coin honoring the Tuskegee Airmen was by far the top seller for the Mint last week. 19,833 of the coins were sold in its first week of availability, meaning that just 167 of the coins remain available for purchase. However, the Mint’s product page for the coin shows that it is unavailable which means that the remaining coins could have been sold or the Mint is doing reconciliation to assure those who purchased the coin actually get it. With this being the last of the 5 ounce coins for the American the Beautiful series, a near sellout in its first week was expected.
With another strong week of sales, the 2021 Proof Set was the second top seller last week. 8,200 sets were sold in the week, pushing the total sales for the set to 227,776. To put this total into perspective, the 2020 Proof Set sold 464,040 sets (and remains available). At its current sales pace, the 2021 set should pass its predecessor sometime late the summer.
The 2021 Christa McAuliffe Proof Silver Dollar also continued its solid sales last week. Another 1,950 of the coins were sold, putting its total sales at 31,096. Meanwhile the 2021 National Law Enforcement Memorial Proof Silver Dollar and Clad Half Dollar where the fourth and fifth top sellers last week.
