The United States Mint has published its weekly sales report for the week that ended on Sunday, April 18, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that the Mint sold 16,659 numismatic products last week, most of those being the 2021 Proof Set and other releases from earlier this year – but not exclusively.
With 10,006 sets sold, the 2021 Proof Set was by far the top seller for the Mint last week. In fact, it was the only numismatic product sold that broke the 1,000 units sold barrier. For the year, there have now been 237,782 Proof Sets sold. In a distant second on the top ten sellers list was the 2021 National Law Enforcement Memorial Proof Silver Dollar. While only 537 of the coins were sold last week, the total was enough to push total sales of it just over the eighteen thousand units sold tally (18,020).
Surprisingly, the third best seller last week for the United States Mint was the Thomas Jefferson Presidential Silver Medal. The medal was released in 2019 and while there is no production limit on any of the Presidential Silver Medal series, they usually do not make it into the top ten after their initial couple of weeks of availability. 515 of these Jefferson medals were sold last week, which has the total sales of it approaching nineteen thousand (18,933).
