Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) has issued the following Press Release concerning the measurement of turnaround times on submissions to the company. With demand for grading services continuing to grow, the company is attempting to be more transparent around multiple aspects of its services. For turnaround time, the company has altered its time tables to reflect the estimated time of grading once the coins are received by the company. Effectively, this eliminates the time the coins are in transit from submitters to the company. The company has also introduced a new Confirm Package Delivery tool under My Submissions on their homepage to allow submitters to see when the coins were delivered.
The confusion and challenge for submitters has largely revolved around shipping services from the United States Postal Service (USPS). The Postal Service has been overwhelmed over the past six months along with process changes that have added significant delays to shipments. NGC, for their part, are trying to clarify when they consider themselves to be “on the clock” for grading submissions.
As demand for our expert and impartial services continues to grow, the Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®) companies, including Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®), Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®), Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) and Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG®), are constantly taking steps to improve the customer experience.
To provide greater transparency to customers, all CCG companies post current turnaround times to the Services & Fees page of their websites. These turnaround times now reflect the estimated time to complete a submission delivered to our facility today.
Previously, there was some confusion about when turnaround times started. Turnaround times now start from the day your package is delivered to our facility, NOT when your submission is entered into our system.
Once delivered, submissions are securely stored until opened and entered into our system. To confirm that your package has been delivered to our facility, please use the Confirm Package Delivery tool located on the homepage and “My Submissions” page of each company website. Once your submission has been entered into our system, you can monitor its progress through the certification process using the Submission Tracking tool.
Note: Turnaround times are estimates only and are NOT guaranteed. CCG strives to post the most accurate turnaround times possible. However, a variety of factors, including submissions that are improperly packaged, items that require additional research and other circumstances, may result in delays.
