The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending May 16, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that Mint sold 20,979 products last week with eight of the top ten products sold being products released this year. The Mint did not release any new products during the time of this report.
The top selling product last week was the 2021 Proof Set. Collectors bought 7,585 sets last week, pushing the set’s total sales to 281,165 for the year. Meanwhile, the more expensive 2021 Silver Proof Set continued to show strong sales despite its significant price increase over last year. 4,272 of the sets were sold, with total sales nearing the two-hundred-thousand mark (191,106).
The third top seller for the Mint for the week ending May 23, 2021 was the 2021 Christ McAuliffe Proof Silver Dollar. Another 1,112 of the coins were sold, putting total sales at 37,761. While sales of the McAuliffe dollar are not as strong as previous commemorative releases, sales have remained consistent since its release in February. Following closing behind with 802 unit sales was the 2021 National Law Enforcement Memorial Proof Clad Half Dollar. Overall the Law Enforcement commemoratives have not sold well for the Mint but continue to register a few hundred coins sold each week.
