The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending June 6, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that the Mint sold 13,198 numismatic products to collectors and dealers in the past week, led by the two annual sets that have been released this year.
The top seller for the Mint was the 2021 Proof Set. Another 5,137 of the sets were sold in the past week. That puts its total sales at 302,085 for the year, becoming the first annual product to push past the three-hundred thousand barrier. For comparison, the 2020 Proof Set sold 465,097 last year through to the early part of this year. That means this year’s set is well on its way to surpassing it. Meanwhile, the 2021 Silver Proof Set continued its strong sales for the year. 2,923 of the premium annual sets, composed of coins made of 90% silver, were sold in the last week. That pushed the totals sales for that set to over two-hundred thousand (205,672). Sales continue to remain strong for the silver set despite the significant increase in price in 2021 compared to last year. However, at 205,672, it is reasonable to assume that this year’s set will outsell the 2020 set which saw a total of 313,249 sets sold.
The third top seller for the Mint for the week of June 13 was the recently released 2021 Kennedy Half Dollar 2-Roll Set. The set saw a small sales total of 610 sets, which puts its total sales at 21,017. It is likely that next week’s report will show that sales this year for the 2-roll set will surpass the 2020 sales of the set which were 24,312.
The fourth top seller for the Mint last week was the 2021 Birth Set. 507 of the sets were sold, putting its total sales at just shy of the 19,000 barrier at 18,914. Rounding out the top five was the 2021 Christa McAuliffe Proof Silver Dollar which saw 402 coins sold last week. This commemorative has done well for the Mint this year, with sales now topping 40,000 (40,093) and has been the clear best selling commemorative for the Mint in 2021.
