The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending July 25, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that the Mint sold 314,065 products last week, the overwhelming majority of those sales coming in the form of the latest American Eagle release.
The 2021-W American Eagle Silver Proof Type-2 was released last week and it dominated sales for the Mint. 298,852 are officially listed as being sold out of the 300,000 mintage. The Mint now lists the newest American Eagle as being unavailable. This is not uncommon. The Mint is likely reconciling sales and it is all-but assured that all 300,000 of the one ounce silver coins have been sold. To put things into perspective, the newest American Eagle was responsible for 95% of all the Mint’s numismatic product sales last week.
The second top seller – and it was a distant second – was the 2021 Proof Set. The annual set added another 3,979 sets to its sales total. For the year, 323,361 of the sets have been sold. Meanwhile, the third top seller was the 40-coin roll of the 2021-W American Eagle Silver Proof Type-2. This lesser known product had 2,142 in sales.
The fourth top seller was the premium annual set from the Mint, the 2021 Silver Proof Set. The silver set added another 2,090 sets to its sales total. Despite its significant price increase over the 2020 set, this years silver proof set has sold well with 215,477 sets sold. For comparison, the 2020 Silver Proof Set had sales total of 313,246, which should be topped by this year’s set at its current sales pace.
Rounding out the top five selling products was the United States Air Force 2.5 Ounce Silver Medal. Introduced two weeks ago, the premium product added another 690 to its sales total, bringing it to just shy of its 10,000 production (9,992). Like the 2021-W American Eagle Silver Proof, the Air Force Medal is showing as unavailable on the Mint’s site. This means that likely all of the medals have been sold as the Mint reconciles figures.
