The United States Mint has released the official high resolution images of the upcoming 2021-W American Eagle Palladium Proof coin. The one ounce coin is 99.995 pure Palladium and will go on sale September 2nd. There will be just 12,000 of these premium precious medal coins produced, with a household limit of one coin.
The Mint has not released a price for this year’s American Eagle Palladium coin. Last year the coin was sold for $3,000 which means it will likely be higher this year. You can get details about the coin on the Mint’s product page.
Unlike the gold and silver American Eagle coins, the Palladium Eagle did not receive any design changes. The coin is identical to last year and indeed, it is the same as it has been since its release five years ago. Unlike last year when only an Uncirculated version of the coin was made, this year, only a proof version will be produced.
The Obverse of the coin features the Winged Liberty Head (or Mercury) Dime design of Adolph A. Weinman, albeit in high-relief. The Reverse features a high-relief version of the 1907 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal. It was also designed by Weinman. Those two designs have been some of the most popular in the history of the United States Mint which has added to the popularity of this bullion coin.
When purchased, it will come in a gray leatherette presentation case with satin lining. It is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
It is unlikely that the coin will sell out in the first day but this investment coin will not stick around for long. Last year, the coin sold out within a few days. If you are wanting to get your coin, be sure to look out for the release next month.
