The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending October 17, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that the Mint sold 72,956 numismatic products last week. That is up from the 25,543 that the Mint reported selling in the previous week. For the year, the United States Mint has now sold 10,514,233 numismatic products.
By far the top seller last week was the 2021 American Innovation Dollar Proof Set. The annual set from the dollar series saw an impressive 53,115 sets sold in the last week. It accounted for 73% of all of the sales for the Mint in the past week. And, as is often the case, previous year American Innovation Proof Sets also sold well in the past week thanks to the “afterglow” of the latest release. Indeed the 2018 (single coin), 2019, and 2020 American Innovation Proof Sets were all in the top 12 in sales last week.
Meanwhile, the four products released for the North Carolina American Innovation Dollar also had strong sales in their first week of availability. The 25-Coin Roll from Philadelphia was the second best seller for the Mint while the same roll from Denver was the fifth best seller. The 100-coin bags from Philadelphia and Denver were the seventh and eighth top sellers respectively.
The 2021 Proof Set continued its strong sales for the year, adding another 6,456 sets to its sales total for the year. That total now stands at 376,045 sets, within 100,000 sets of the 2020 set’s sales total. Additionally, the 2021 Uncirculated Coin Set enjoyed another strong well in sales. 6,336 of the sets were sold last week, putting its sales for the year at 159,605.
