The United States Mint has released its 2022 Production and release schedule on its site. The schedule can be found here and provides release dates for numismatic products from the Mint through the Spring of next year. In all, 66 products are scheduled for next year with the first set to be released on January 6, 2022.
Traditionally, the first product releases each year by the Mint are the Birthday and Celebration Sets but that will not be the case next year. The 2022 production report shows that the first releases will be the commemorative coins for the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor and the Negro Leagues Baseball. Eight products will be released for the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor commemoratives, including a colorized silver dollar. The colorized coin will be the second such product ever released by the Mint, following the colorized Basketball Hall of Fame release in 2019. For the Negro Leagues Baseball commemoratives, nine products will be released.
After the commemoratives are released in January 2022, it will be February before we see the 2022-W American Eagle silver proof (February 3) and the 2022 Congratulations Set (also February 3). In February, we will also see the first release of the 2022 American Women Quarter Program honoring Maya Angelou in the form of bags and rolls. The 2022 American Women Quarter Program Proof Set will be released three days later on February 10th. The 2022 Native American Dollar will be released on February 9th while the first of four Presidential Silver Medals will be released February 14th honoring James K. Polk.
2022 is shaping up to be a busy release year for the Mint with multiple programs in flight during the year.
