The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic product sales report for the week ending December 12, 2021. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. The report shows that the Mint sold 21,923 numismatic products in the past week. This is up slightly from the previous week’s report. For the year, the Mint has now sold 10,740,776 products.
Unsurprisingly, the top selling numismatic product for the United States Mint last week was the 2021 Proof Set. The standard annual release added another 9,169 sets to its total sales for the year, which now tops 465,000 (467,804). This week’s sales has now pushed 2021 Proof Sets sales past the 465,080 sets sold last year. Meanwhile, the premium proof set also enjoyed strong sales last week. The 2021 Silver Proof Set had 3,553 sets sold according to the Mint’s report. That puts its total sales for the year at 267,347. This is still below the 313,184 sales figure from last year and it is unlikely that it will top those sales with only a few weeks left in the year (although sales of this set will continue while supplies last into 2022).
The 2021 American Innovation annual sets also continued their solid sales for this year. The 2021 American Innovation Dollar Proof set was the third top seller for the United States Mint last week with 1,466 set sold while the 2021 A.I. Reverse Proof set was just behind it with 1,344 sets sold.
Rounding out the top five selling products according to the Mint’s weekly report was the 2021 Christa McAuliffe Proof Silver Dollar. Another 1,025 of the commemoratives were sold last week. This coins continues to be one of the more popular commemorative releases by the Mint in the past several years.
