Welcome to the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) grading report for the week of January 17, 2022. This is a new report here at USCoinNews that will be updated every Wednesday. The goal of this report is to give readers information related to how long it is taking the Sarasota, Florida grading company to grade coins that have been submitted. The goal of the report is to provide realistic expectations on how long it will take for you to get your coins back from NGC. It is not aimed at being a critique or judgment on the company.
NGC, like PCGS and other grading companies, have seen a significant increase in the number of submissions in the last two years. This has in large part been driven by the COVID-19 pandemic and the addition of rare coins and bullion to investment portfolios. Couple this will intermittent lockdowns at the beginning of the pandemic, it has had a knock-on effect for the grading companies to catch up.
For the week of January 17, 2022, NGC is reporting that it is now opening packages that were delivered to the company the week of November 17, 2021. Once the packages are opened, it takes on average another 1-2 weeks before coins are graded and returned. That means the average ship-to-return is approximately 10 weeks. If you are not an NGC member and submitting your coins through an authorized dealer, that could add another week or two to the process.

Thanks. NGC states 68 working days. I’ve got a package of Morgan silver dollars coming back to me now, that i wasn’t expecting until March. I haven’t had my breakfast yet so I can’t give you the exact dates I sent it.
