The United States Mint has released its weekly numismatic sales report for the seven-day period ending on Sunday, January 30, 2022. The report covers the previous seven days in numismatic product sales by the Mint and is separate from the bullion sales report. In this week’s report, the Mint indicated that just 6,537 numismatic products were sold. This is down from the just over 10,000 products sold according to last week’s report.
The top selling product for the United States Mint last week was the new-for-2022 Negro Leagues Baseball commemorative proof silver Dollar coin. 796 of the coins were sold according to the Mint’s report, putting total sales at 11,793. Indeed, most of the Negro League commemorative products were in the top ten list this past week. The proof Half Dollar was the third top seller (683), the proof silver Dollar & Jackie Robinson silver medal set was fourth (512), the uncirculated silver Dollar was seventh (317), and the uncirculated Half Dollar was eighth (258). While the total sales figures this week are not overly impressive, the fact that the commemoratives continue to sell several weeks after their release is a good indicator of the popularity.
The second top seller last week for the Mint was the 2021 Proof Set. The annual set, which remains available on the Mint’s site, added 717 sets to its sales total. That now puts total sales for last year’s Proof Set at 484,365. Meanwhile, the 2021 Uncirculated Coin Set was the fifth best seller last week with 492 sets sold while the premium Silver Proof Set from last year was the sixth top seller with 476 sets sold.
